Jesus, Love, and Tacos by Carrie Stephens

Home » Faith » Jesus, Love, and Tacos by Carrie Stephens

In: Faith, Reading on: October 12, 2022

Y’all know non-fiction—especially Christian living non-fiction—is not really my go-to genre to read. Not that I don’t like it, I just need to know it’s worthwhile. And usually, for me, that means a Holy Spirit desire to pick up the book and read.

Recently, a new friend released a book called Jesus, Love, and Tacos. Carrie lives in Austin, which kind of connected us since we met via our agent not long after we arrived back in Dallas. Over the past couple of years I’ve come to feel very connected to Carrie. When her book released, I bought it. But I had no idea that the minute it came in the door I’d get that Holy Spirit urge to read it!

But I did. And let me just say—this lady has it all: humor, vulnerability, experience, and deep insight into the word of God.

As the title says, there are three sections to the book: Jesus—which is a discussion of Lordship, Love—a discussion of community, and Tacos—a discussion of missional living. From each chapter and section I’ve gleaned insight, encouragement, and also conviction. Here are just a few samples of some of my favorite thoughts from the book.

If you need a quick but meaty read, this is it. If you need encouragement to love Jesus, the church, and the world, this is it. You’ll come away not only with a deeper view of Jesus, love, and mission but also a feeling of camaraderie and friendship with Carrie herself.
