Everything by Mary DeMuth

Everything: What You Give and What You Gain to Become Like Jesus is my friend Mary DeMuth’s latest book, an exploration of how we choose (or not!) to give our whole selves–our everything–to Jesus. If you’ve read any of Mary’s other books (Thin Places, Beautiful Battle, Building the Christian Family You Never Had), you know that Mary writes in such a way that you see her heart splayed out on the page. Everything is no different. It is both an exploration of giving ourselves completely to Christ and an encouragement to keep moving toward that end.

In the three sections of the book–Head (what we think), Heart (who we are) and Hands (How we live)–Mary explores so many of the places we get tripped up in giving everything to Jesus. A storyteller at heart, Mary shares the journey through her own experiences as well as those of others. And as we read, we see ourselves. The good, the bad and the ugly. And shouldn’t that be what good books do? Help us see ourselves? Even better, they point us to Jesus to fix our brokenness.

Everything does just that. If you feel stagnant or discouraged or even just comfortable in your spiritual walk, I encourage you to let this book both encourage and challenge you. For in giving our everything to the Lord, He gives us back so much more in return.

Yes, they’re walking a frustrating road right now. Keep them in your prayers!

"The Work of His Hands: a novelette”

Bea wants nothing more than to go to college and learn more about the world God created. Her mother even left money in trust for her to do so. She only wishes her father supported her dream. But when Papa gets into financial trouble in the young town of Fort Worth, Texas, Bea must decide what is more important—her education or her father's well-being. Can she trust the God of creation to make something beautiful of her life?”

Along with the story you’ll receive my newsletter updates as well.
