Do You Talk About What You Read?

Home » Reading » Do You Talk About What You Read?

In: Reading, Uncategorized on: July 18, 2013

If you answered yes to the title of this post, then think of me as Uncle Sam, pointing and saying, “I want YOU!”

Why? Because in spite of all the various means of marketing that are available to us today, research shows that word of mouth is still why most people buy the books they buy. So in order to facilitate word of mouth, my publisher is giving away what we call “influencer copies” of my latest book. “Influencers” are people we identify as:

readers who talk to other readers, via online reviews, blog posts, as a book club member, in a library setting, as a bookstore employee or just to their friends and family.

As an Influencer, Bethany House sends you a free copy of my book. You read it. If you like it (which I hope you will!), you talk about it to your spheres of “influence”–your book club, your local library, your church library, your friends and family or even to online friends and strangers who read your blog or see your reviews in places like Amazon or Goodreads or Novel Crossing or Christianbook.com or Barnes and Noble.

So do you fit the Influencer profile? If so, I have a few more spots let on my list for my September release, A Home for My Heart. Email me (anne (at) annemateer (dot) com) with your name, mailing address, and a general idea of the various places you are willing to share what you think of the story. Depending on  how many responses I have, I may or may not be able to take all who are interested!

In case you haven’t seen it before, here is the cover and story synopsis for A Home for My Heart, set in 1910 central Pennsylvania:

Sadie Sillsby works as the assistant to the matron at the Raystown Home for Orphan and Friendless Children and dreams of the day she’ll marry her beau, Blaine. But when the matron surprises everyone by announcing her own engagement, Sadie is suddenly next in line for the job. For a young woman who was once an orphan herself, a shot at such an esteemed position is a wish come true.

But the matron of the Home cannot be married. Is Sadie willing to give up her dreams of a life with Blaine and a family of her own? Is she prepared to forgo daily involvement with the children as she instead manages the financial, legal, and logistical aspects of the orphanage? And when it’s revealed that the Home is spending a lot more money than it’s taking in, can Sadie turn things around before the place is forced to close forever?

Thank you in advance for your continued support!

I’d love an early copy and as I have with the two previous ones, I talk to everyone I see about them and I always end by bragging that my daughter-in-law is the author. Do I sound proud? I certainly hope so because I am soooooooooooo proud of you.

    Love you.

I have been a friend of Mary’s for almost 2 yrs. and she told me about your book. I belong to several book clubs and love to read. I especially love history and a good Christian book. We discuss a good read at Bible Study, and I have many friends who would love to hear about new good books. I really am looking forward to reading “A Home for my Heart”.

I would be honored to read your book. As a retired Reading Specialist, I am an avid reader who is always searching for well-written books with God at the heart of them. If the book is Historical fiction, then that is even better! We need more Christian authors to meet the needs of the many people who are thirsty for these types of books. People ask me what I recommend, and I would love to add your book to my prefered list if I find it to be one of my favorites. It certainly looks promising! Thank you for your work in furthering His Kingdom.

I love to read. My friends and I pass our books around and talk about them. I try to influence friends and encourage them to read by passing my Christian novels on to them. I also donate them to our local Christian Library for sharing. I would love, love, to receive the free book to read and share with others. God bless you and inspire your writings.

Hi Anne:-) I love to talk about what I’m reading and I love historical fiction! I just published my first historical romantic suspense book, so I understand that it takes quite a bit to get the word out there for a new book 🙂

I would be honoured to be a reviewer and post about your book on my social media platforms…website, twitter, FB, linkedIn, G+, etc.

BTW…read your 1st book Anne and loved it!

i would love to read this book. i admit, i am a sceptic. i have a post written right now…not yet published, about my frustration re christian fiction and the characters and how boring some of them can be:(

i would like to read the book and find that it is the exception. i think putting it in a different historical place helps make the characters a little more interesting often:)

Just talking with 2 of my older granddaughters (15 and almost 13) who love to
read as well about how much I love to read different books and how fun it is
to get into a “fantasy world” but then also different perspectives on “real life”
too……and I do enjoy talking about what I’m reading if anyone wants to listen:)

His collection of over 60 cars includes some very rare models, such as a
Bugatti Atlantic Coupe, a Mc – Laren F1LM, a Bugatti
Veyron, a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa and a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing.
In the years following its production, this unique Spyder weighing only 550 kg or 1,213 lb, scored numerous victories
on race circuits and in the road races so popular at the time.
Only a hand full made it into production, with car #3 being owned by the afore-mentioned Leno.
