Christmas Novellas and Short Stories

Home » Reading » Christmas Novellas and Short Stories

In: Reading, Uncategorized on: December 15, 2014

You already know I love Christmas stories. I’ve been reading various ones since Thanksgiving and here are a few new favorites to add to my two all-time favorite* Christmas stories:

A Wreath of Snow     A Wreath of Snow: A Victorian Christmas Novella by Liz Curtis Higgs

I’ve been wanting to read this one since it came out a couple of years ago and it did not disappoint. Liz               Curtis Higgs never fails to draw you into Scotland and her characters live on the page. Honestly, I have a         much  harder time finding historical Christmas fiction that I enjoy, but I very much enjoyed this one!

One December Night by Melissa TaggOne December NIght

A wonderful short story by up-and-coming contemporary romance author Melissa Tagg! The setting and one periphery character come from her most current release, Here to Stay (which is wonderful in its own right.) It’s a sweet, funny story that all takes place “one December night.”  The best part? It’s a free download from Melissa’s website! (It’s in PDF, so you can read it on your computer or send it to any ereader, or even print it out if you want to! Click on the title above to get to it.

Forever Christmas      Forever Christmas by Christine Lynxwiler

Jingle Bells, Arkansas is being asked to change it’s name–and some residents refuse to allow that to happen.   Loved this sweet romance, set in a quirky town with quirky characters, and plot twists that keep you guessing     until the very end. Absolutely precious!

Mistletoe KissesMistletoe Kisses: inspirational romance boxed set by Janet Tronstad, Lisa Mondello, Lenora Worth, Margaret Daley, Camille Elliot, Pamela Tracy, Lacy Williams and Cheryl Wyatt

This is a collection of 8 novellas, a variety of historical, contemporary and suspense. All Christmas-themed, inspirational romances. There truly is something for everyone in this one!

Cup of Christmas Cheer vol. 3 & 4 by various authorsCup of Christmas Cheer vol. 3 & 4

How could I not include this charming, two-volume set of short stories? One volume is historical short stories. One volume is contemporary short stories. (Mine is in the contemporary volume!) Each story is like watching a mini Hallmark Christmas movie. They are wonderful! And they are small, like a gift book. They make a lovely set of books to set out at Christmas time to both add to the decor and to give you or guests a quick story to read.

A few still waiting for me to read between now and Christmas?

The Gift-Wrapped Bride by Maureen Lang

The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson

A December Bride by Denise Hunter

The Walnut Tree: A Holiday Tale by Charles Todd

I’d love to hear your favorite Christmas reads this season!

Merry Christmas and happy reading!

*My two all-time favorites: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Robinson

You should read the Christmas Traditions books: An Apple for Christmas by Darlene Franklin, Nutcracker Christmas by Jennifer AiLee, Fruitcake Challenge by Carrie Fancet Pagels, Sadie’s Gift by Niki Turner, Christmas Lessons by Patty Smith Hall, and Handcarved Christmas by Cynthia Hickey. They are all wonderful books!

I’ve also read other Christmas books this here. I’ve read most of the ones in your list.
