Short-straw Bride by Karen Witemeyer

Karen Witemeyer knows how to tell a story. Yet again, she pulled me in from page one and didn’t let go until I closed the back cover. Short-Straw Bride is a fun and romantic tale reminiscent of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in which Meredith and Travis find their way to understanding what it truly means to love.

Interestingly enough, Short-Straw Bride begins with a prologue, which I usually don’t care for. But this one really worked for me. In fact, when I finally let myself read the prologue last week, even knowing I wouldn’t have the time I needed to continue the story, (Karen is one of those authors I have to allow myself a whole free day before I open her books.) it was torture to wait until Sunday to open it again and see how it all turned out! And yet it was such a pleasure when I finally did.

Check out all of Karen’s books, but be sure you don’t miss this one!

"The Work of His Hands: a novelette”

Bea wants nothing more than to go to college and learn more about the world God created. Her mother even left money in trust for her to do so. She only wishes her father supported her dream. But when Papa gets into financial trouble in the young town of Fort Worth, Texas, Bea must decide what is more important—her education or her father's well-being. Can she trust the God of creation to make something beautiful of her life?”

Along with the story you’ll receive my newsletter updates as well.
