Portrait of a Reader: Diane H.

Home » Reading » Portrait of a Reader: Diane H.

In: Reading, Uncategorized on: November 29, 2013

Welcome, Diane! Please start by introducing us to yourself and your family.

I have a family of five. I live with my husband, Brett, of 21 years, our daughter Taylor who is 16, our son Jackson who is 13 and our daughter Reagan who is 12.  We also have a 10 year old Chocolate Lab named Maddie who is very spoiled.

Portrait of a Reader: Diane H.

Those are busy years with the kids–but so much fun! So when did you first come to identify yourself as a “reader”, Andrea? What do you most enjoy reading? Do you consider yourself a casual reader, a sporadic reader, a serious reader or an all-out bibliophile?

I have also been a reader.  I love to get lost in a book!  I read all the time, wherever I can.

That’s a familiar refrain around here! So what do you most enjoy reading?

I love mystery and romance books. Mary Higgins Clark was probably my first favorite author.

What is the last book you finished and what are you currently reading?

The last book I finished was a David Baldacci book and I am currently reading Love Does.

I haven’t read David Baldacci, but Love Does is on my to read list. I’ll get to it someday! Do you have a favorite time and place to read?

By far my favorite place to read is in the bathtub!

I love your answer! When we remodeled our master bath, I had them put a light over the tub just so I could see to read! 🙂 What is the most unusual circumstance/place in which you’ve been found reading?

This would probably still be the bathtub. ☺

So if you are reading in the tub, do you read physical books, ebooks, or both?

I enjoy reading physical books and ebooks.

Same here. Do you buy your books, borrow them from friends or check them out of the library? (Or all of the above!)

All of the above!

Good for you! I always think I should use the library more, but then I get lazy. Do you have any favorite foods or drinks that generally accompany your reading?

I love to drink Chai Tea while reading a cold drink in a warm bath.  Like I said I love to read in the tub it’s so relaxing!

Lol! Now people understand you picture at the top of this post, right? Finally, it’s true confessions time: have you ever forgotten something important (to fix dinner or that dinner was in the oven or an appointment, etc) because you were lost in the pages of a book?

I have been known to read so long that I call my husband and ask him to pick something up for dinner on his way home from work.

It’s a good thing when readers have accommodating spouses, isn’t it? What would we do without them? Thank you so much for sharing a little bit of yourself with us today, Diane. Now I’m thinking a long bath with a good book sounds lovely!

Happy Reading, Y’all!

Loved meeting Diane and hearing about her tub reading. Definitely, a girl has to grab relaxation and reading when she can.
