You might remember a post from a few weeks ago where I was waiting on several things to happen/get done. Two of the three are accomplished! And I have a date for the third!
A ceiling fan isn’t so exciting, but my new backyard oasis is, so I thought I’d take you on a tour.
First, we expanded the footprint of our deck but kept the same basic design. We moved the picnic table up, added a table with six chairs and even had room for the smaller table and three chairs, which were all we had room for before. Now we can seat 15 at tables all on the deck! This is very exciting considering that when we have family over 15 is not at all unusual.
Expanding the deck to include the picnic table freed up our previously paver-stoned pie shaped area of the yard. Here I was able to put a curved sectional–and incorporate the gas fire pit table our kids gave us for Christmas last year! This area is almost always in the shade at all time of year and makes a great place to work! I’ve already used it many times during the lovely fall weather we are having.
The point of this backyard redo was, yes, to gain more living/dining space, but it was also to accommodate the coming dog. Before, we did have a gate to lock off the back section of yard, but I always wanted a gate at the back of the deck for convenience sake. And isn’t this the cutest thing? Now when we want to lock off the dog (or dogs, if others are here) from the crowd who are eating, we can–and without completely locking them out of the action.
I’m so, so grateful we were able to do make this redo happen–to find just the right furniture for it (and got a great deal on it, to boot!) and to get it finished well in advance of the puppy coming to live at our house.
When is that, you say? November 17! Sometime after that I can promise you there will be a post filled with puppy cuteness. And hopefully by then we will have settled on a name!

Thank you! We are enjoying it (when it isn’t raining)!
