A Wiggy Christmas

Home » Faith » A Wiggy Christmas

In: Faith on: December 18, 2025

Our Community Group from church decided to forgo the traditional White Elephant gift exchange this year and make way for . . . wigs!

Yep, we had a wig exchange. The rules? Whatever wig you opened, you had to wear the rest of the party! There is such a wide range of cheap, funny wigs on Amazon—and we had no two alike. We had everything from dreadlocks to K-pop stars to 18th-century-style wigs.

We laughed so much!

Here are a few of the pictures.

I love these people so much. We can go from eating and laughing to the deep sharing of our highs and lows and answered prayers and lessons learned of 2025—while still wearing our ridiculous wigs!

What I loved the most in hearing everyone’s answers was that we walked through them together. No one had a “surprise” low or high that the rest of us didn’t know about. Mostly the same with answered prayer, too. We all got to rejoice in those because we’d all had a part in praying for them!

Jeff and I have been in many small groups in many churches during our 38 years of marriage. Small groups aren’t always easy. In fact, only three really stand out in my mind, and this is one of them. I can’t say what makes or breaks a group. Our last great one was made up of several couples, all close to the same age and in the same stage—empty nesters (except for the one couple, where the guy was our age, but he became a first-time father!) Our current group and another good one were a variety of ages. This one has some singles mixed in with married, too. All I know is that these people know me. I don’t have to be anyone different than who I am with them. And they love me anyway, as I do them.

Have you ever had one of those small groups at church that just gelled? What did you enjoy most about that group?

I was in a group about 10 years ago that was led by a sweet couple. We were a singles group and they invited us to their home. We also went on outings in the area. I visited them this year (they retired to about 1.5 hours away). They are a blessing.

I am in a wonderful group right now. They have supported me & prayed for me through thick and thin. I have a very good friend in the group. It makes a big difference in my life to have this outlet. And I can now stand in the gap for those who did that for me.

I love that testimony, Adriane! Community is so important in our walk with the Lord! I’m so glad you have a great group you’ve connected with!
