It seems soooooo long since we started this house nightmare/journey. And for so long it seemed the work was progressing so slowly. But finally, things are moving!
The hardwood floors are down, which makes it look like a house again! Earlier this week, the kitchen cabinets were re-installed and the bar area, which also contains the sink and dishwasher, was rebuilt. I’ve picked the rest of the paint colors and floor stain options and decided on tile directions in the bathroom. I still can’t see it all in my head, but one thing that got finished has encouraged me to believe it will be wonderful: the bead board on the bottom of the bar!
I love this new detail! It ties in with the bead board accents in the kitchen cabinets and gives some pop to the bar area.
Here are some more pictures of the progress.
We still don’t have any final word from the insurance claim by the company that installed the French drain that flooded our foundation and caused the damage, but we continue to pray for provision in whatever way the Lord chooses. For now, we’re just grateful for our contractor and our designer, who are always on top of things and keeping the work moving forward. We are so happy to see an end in sight. We miss our house and our neighborhood so very much.
While we will move back in some form at the end of this month, I hope to be truly “settled” again by Christmas. And we’re praying 2024 will be much less traumatic!
