What I’ve Been Reading

Home » Reading » What I’ve Been Reading

In: Reading, Uncategorized on: May 19, 2014

It’s been either feast or famine on reading lately. I definitely prefer the feast times! Here are a few of my recent Christian fiction reads (alphabetized by author!):

Born of Persuasion

Born of Persuasion by Jessica Dotta

A regency with a darker, more gothic feel and a mysterious storyline that will keep your head spinning trying to figure out what’s next. Can’t wait to read the second book in this series because I’m still not sure everything (or everyone) is at it appears.

Critical Condition by Richard Mabry

Critical Condition by Richard Mabry

I confess, I haven’t reached this in my to read pile, however I had to tell you about it because my daughter, who does not read fiction but loves all things medical, found this book, picked it up, and finished it in two days! That should speak for itself to those medical thriller readers out there!

Meant to be Mine

Meant to Be Mine by Becky Wade

The second of the Porter Family series focuses on bull riding brother Ty. As with Becky’s books, it’s a compelling romance with a strong spiritual thread. A great read.

It Had to Be You

It Had to Be You by Susan May Warren

Susan May Warren books grab me from page one and don’t let go. Every. Single. Time. Loved Eden Christiansen’s story, maybe because I struggle with some of the same things she wrestled with in her journey. Of course there’s a great romance in there, too.

A True Name

A True Name by Kim Wiese

For me, an allegory has to come at just the right time in my life. And this one did. An illustration of our Christian life, from a slave being bought off the auction block to becoming the bride of the Prince, it was well-written and really spoke to some places I am in my life right now. If you are in the mood for a good allegory, try this one.

Anything good you’ve read lately that I need to add to my list or move up on my list? Let me know!

I’ve heard soooo many good things about Jessica Dotta’s series. I’ve gotta get started on that first one soon. And Susie’s latest book…soooo good. I’m with you–every single time I read one of her books, I can’t put it down!

I put Jessica’s off for way too long, although now I’m glad I did because I can read the others without too much lag time! 🙂

They sound wonderful. I really am looking forward to reading “A True Name.” It sounds like it would be a wonderful read and along the lines of Pilgrim’s Progress. I am grateful to be a Princess.

Me, too, Dora! She uses some great images of different aspects of our walk with Christ that have really stuck with me.

Anne, glad your daughter enjoyed Critical Condition. Hope that–when you do get around to it–you like it as well.

I hope to get to it soon, Doc. My daughter is off to study for a master’s in infectious disease at Drexel this fall. 🙂
