To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain by Matt Chandler

Home » Faith » To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain by Matt Chandler

In: Faith, Reading, Uncategorized on: August 18, 2014

I don’t read a ton of “Christian living” type books. I won’t go into all my reasons why. But on occasion I’ll get a Holy Spirit unction to read something. I generally find when this happens that the book speaks to exactly some question or struggle I’m facing and I race through the book in record time, soaking in truth like drought-thirsty ground.

Such was the case recently with Matt Chandler’s To Live is Christ, To Die is Gain. What I loved about this book is that it essentially expounds from the text of the book of Philippians. (I always love a discussion of Christian living firmly based on contextual scripture.) Honestly, it wasn’t that he revealed to me any “new” truth, but he spoke the truth I know in just a different enough way to press it deeper into my spirit. As I look for what’s next in this new phase of life, I needed the reminder that Christ desires me to be mature in Him, that my life is His to do with as He pleases, that I need not be anxious for anything, and that I can be content in all circumstances through Him.

If you need encouragement for your continued spiritual growth, I encourage you to check out this book.

Matt knows of what he speaks here.. his bout with severe brain cancer and continual monitoring for it’s return has taught him a lot about anxiety and walking the talk.
