I have to be in the right mood to read a romance, but a good Cinderella story gets me every time. I finished these two on our trip and loved them both!
How did I miss this one when it came out several years ago? It is the ultimate Jane Austen fantasy with a Cinderella story ending. It’s a short book, and if you love Jane Austen and have read her stories (and watched the movies!) as many times as I have, I’m sure you’ll love it. I mean seriously, who wouldn’t want a three week regency vacation, complete with regency clothing, manners and characters? I will definitely be watching for the movie release sometime this year, I believe.
Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck
When this ebook went on sale, I snapped it up–because how could I resist a story set on St. Simon’s Island and involving royalty? Seriously, I loved this book for both the settings (St. Simons and a fictional Britishy kingdom) and for the Cinderella story quality. A handsome prince and a down-and-out, recently-jilted landscape designer. A strong spiritual thread. A sigh-quality romance. I was completely satisfied when I reached the end of the book.
I went through a time where I was embarrassed of my weakness for Cinderella stories, but is it really so strange? It’s the story of my life–a down-and-out sinner wooed into relationship with the King of the Universe. It doesn’t get more “Cinderella” than that!
