Over on Inspired by Life . . . and Fiction, we are celebrating a new look with a series of “get to know us” posts. Tamera Alexander created this wonderful graphic with the questions, so I thought I’d use it, too!

- Once my husband got me a really good automatic espresso machine at home, I rarely order it out much! My “usual” is a black Americano. But on the weekends, I add vanilla or chocolate creamer or do an unsweetened latte—which is generally my “coffee out” order.
2. Favorite worship song is hard—and constantly changing! But right now, the one that most consistently runs through my head is “A Thousand Hallelujahs” by Brooke Ligertwood.
3. I like any kind of instrumental music while I write, most often classical or movie score music. Words distract me.
4. I write best anywhere that isn’t my house! Don’t get me wrong. I can write there. And do, most often. But if I go out to the library or a coffee shop, I get so much more done!
5. My husband’s homemade vanilla ice cream paired with his homemade brownies is my go-to in the summer!
6. I’m working to get my next book ready for a fall release, but here’s the opening:
The heels of my shoes clapped against the oak planks in the morning silence. I shifted my weight to my toes, trying to keep my steps from echoing through the house. The chime of a clock set me hurrying faster, one hand checking to see that my cap remained in place, my hair mostly beneath it. When I reached the area designated as our chapel, I slipped into a seat in the back just as one of the black-gowned students took the dais.
He turned, and my breath caught. A slow smile lifted my lips as his gaze roamed the room, finally landing on me before he opened his Bible at the lectern.
John Cosson.
My heart seemed to skip a beat as his gentle baritone rang through the room.
Look for a cover reveal for To Heed the Call later this summer! (To get the info first, be sure to be a subscriber to my newsletter!)
7. Currently reading A Founding Mother by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie, The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Spies, Lies, and Alibis by Natalie Walters, and The Magician of Tiger Castle by Louis Sachar.
I hope these let you get to know me a little better! If you don’t read our Inspired by Life . . . and Fiction blog, you should check it out! Not only do you get to know 10 wonderful Christian fiction authors, but many of us will be doing giveaways over there during the second half of June!
