I left home early this morning to spend the day in the research room at the Oklahoma Historical Society. I have no idea what I’ll find there, but I know what I hope to find.
I hope to find pictures to inspire characters. Pictures or descriptions of daily life in Oklahoma during the Great War. And unique circumstances and facts that can help define characters and turn plot. My favorite place to find these things are newspapers and personal letters, but I’m learning to see the underlying stories in even mundane records.
Going into such a day is like opening a treasure chest. It could be a bust. It could be full of more gold than I can carry. Either way, research is not only an adventure in itself, it is a doorway to the ultimate adventure of a whole new story to spin!

Sounds fun! I love wandering antique malls because I can almost hear the stories. Have a good time!
