Portrait of a Reader: Lanetia G.

Welcome, Lanetia! Please start by introducing us to yourself and your family.

I grew up in a very large family and now have three adult children and eight grandchildren.

Portrait of a Reader: Lanetia G.

When did you first come to identify yourself as a reader? What do you most enjoy reading? Do you consider yourself a casual reader, a sporadic reader, a serious reader or an all-out bibliophile?

I really only became a serious reader after the children were away. After the house was quiet, it was time to enjoy a book for hours at a time.

Quiet hours of reading. Ah, bliss! What do you most enjoy reading?

I enjoy historical fiction and mysteries.

Me, too! What is the last book you finished and what are you currently reading?

I just finished In the Company of Secrets by Judith Miller.   I just began reading Against the Tide by Elizabeth Camden

Against the Tide is soooo good! Do you have a favorite time and place to read?

I enjoy reading most any time. While the TV is tuned to a ballgame, it is a great escape to read and still be in the same room.

Yes! I do that all the time. Especially during baseball. 🙂 So what is the most unusual circumstance/place in which you’ve been found reading?

I have been known to  read standing the kitchen waiting for a timer to go off .

Then you are definitely a serious reader. At least you are in there, waiting! Maybe you don’t burn as many things as the rest of us! Do you read physical books, ebooks, or both?

I read both physical and ebooks.  My Nook is easier for my “old eyes.”

Oh boy, do I get that! I love being able to increase a font. Do you buy your books, borrow them from friends or check them out of the library? (Or all of the above!)

I either borrow books or buy them for my e-reader.

Do you have any favorite foods or drinks that generally accompany your reading?

Believe it or not I don’t usually eat and read.  (It is not good for the e-reader.)  I love coffee with my book on a cold morning.

Definitely a good thing! Finally, it’s true confessions time: have you ever forgotten something important (to fix dinner or that dinner was in the oven or an appointment, etc) because you were lost in the pages of a book?

I have said I would accomplish a task at home while my husband runs the errands and then be caught in the exact same place reading when he returns for completing the list of errands.

That made me laugh! It’s such an easy thing to do. And I’m sure sometimes a little frustrating for the hubby. But I know he loves you anyway. 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing a little bit of yourself with us today, Lanetia.

Happy Reading, Y’all!

That is a plus to winter, isn’t it? Love having to stay home all day and night. Books are great company. 🙂
