Four and a half years ago, we dropped off our adventurous eighteen-year-old and her stuff (that took up about 3/4 of the back of our suburban) at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. Eight hours from home. No car. Didn’t know a soul.
This weekend we packed up her stuff (our suburban, a u-haul, and another car’s worth!) and drove home. But besides her “stuff” she also brings home with her a diploma, a whole sorority full of friends, and memories to last a lifetime. We are so very, very proud of the young woman she has become. Beautiful inside and out. We’re looking forward to having her at home for a few months until grad school!

I hope so! It’s definitely different having her come home at almost 23 than when she last lived her at barely 18!
What a great milestone and memory! I remember reading about when your “baby girl” left for college. It’s been fun to journey along as you’ve shared about Elizabeth and her cooking adventures. Merry Christmas!
It went so fast! Thanks for sharing our journey and her adventures in the kitchen. We are all looking forward to her culinary delights for Christmas. The training was great even if she did end up changing her major from culinary to biology!
Congratulations to Elizabeth! A great achievement and a very proud moment for all of you. Our children grow up way too fast so I say, “Hold on tight for the ride of your life!”
And it seems like the ride gets crazier the older they get, Melanie! I really didn’t expect that. But I love watching them in this stage of finding out who they are and what direction God wants them to go. It’s so exciting!
