I’m back to a more “normal” pace of reading after last year’s record number of reads. Just seven books this month, but all of them winners (as evidenced by my constant use of the word “love” throughout!).
Historical:
Gentleman Jim by Mimi Matthews
Loved, loved, loved this story where the line between highwayman and aristocrat gets tangled. So many twists and turns to get the hero and heroine to their happily ever after!
Thief of Lanwyn Manor by Sarah E. Ladd
I have a deep love of all things Cornwall, probably stemming from my love of Poldark! (The books and the PBS series!) So Sarah E. Ladd’s Cornwall series has been right up my alley. This is book two. A great story full of suspense in set in Cornwall’s mining country.
Suffering the Scot by Nichole Van
Loved the premise of this book! A Scot is the next heir to an English earldom, and he comes to his new estate ready to be the boorish bumpkin they expect. Only he doesn’t count on Lady Jane or the fire inside her she tries to hide in order to be the perfect lady. Such a delight! Can’t wait to read the rest of the Brotherhood of the Black Tartan series!
Walking with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge
Y’all! This is another of those books I would never have read but for Amazon First Reads—and I loved it! A coming of age/road trip story built around a tiny tidbit of history. Beautiful book that made me cry at the end!
Contemporary:
Some Bright Someday by Melissa Tagg
Melissa Tagg’s books are just delightful! Every. Single. One. I fall more in love again with Maple Valley, Iowa, and it’s great cast of characters with every book.
Everywhere to Hide by Siri Mitchell
Even though I love Siri Mitchell’s books, her suspense is still a hard genre for me to read quickly. I get stressed out for the characters and have to put the book down for a while. But in spite of that, she kept me reading because her great characters so sparked my concern for how they would get through their stressful circumstances.
Only You by Susan May Warren
A FREE (get it here) novella beginning to a new Deep Haven series! This place and its residents feel like real people to me after so many books! Not only does this short book remind us of some of the amazing Deep Haven characters and their stories, it sets us up for a whole new slew of Deep Haven books. They will not be written by Susan May Warren but done with her direction and her same love of this place and these people. Can’t wait to read the first full length novel in this new venture, Still the One!
