A Reminder of God’s Faithfulness

Home » Faith » A Reminder of God’s Faithfulness

In: Faith on: December 7, 2023

I love the color blue. I especially love using it in my home.

When we moved into this house three years ago, my friend Mary suggested I do a blue-and-white plate grouping on my dining room wall. I loved the idea, but I’m not one to do such a thing myself. Partly this is because decorating is last on my list of priorities. Don’t get me wrong, I love a wonderfully decorated home. I just don’t want to do the things to make it happen. There are so many other things I enjoy doing instead. And the other reason? I have no sense of space or design. I know what I like when I see it, but I can’t create it.

Not long after our house catastrophe happened back in May, Mary handed me a heavy bag when we met for lunch.

“It’s a gift of faith,” she explained.”To remind you to have faith that you will be back in your house again one day.”

Inside the bag, I found various plates and a platter, as well as the offer to help hang them when the time came.

Guess what?

The time came!

Yesterday we hung the plates on the wall!

[Insert time-lapse video of the project—only I forgot to hit record, so pictures will have to do!]

I love how it turned out. Not only does it add warmth and interest to my dining room, it is a reminder of the faithfulness of God. Of His great love. Of His provision and His mercy and His care.

It’s also a lovely visual of all the friends the Lord has placed in my life, many of whom lent me some of their faith when mine lagged through this process.

Do you have decor in your home that reminds you of God’s faithful presence through friends?

“I love a wonderfully decorated home. I just don’t want to do the things to make it happen. There are so many other things I enjoy doing instead. And the other reason? I have no sense of space or design.” Oh man, this describes me perfectly! I need a Mary or team of Marys to help me decorate. No eye for it, myself. So glad your house is coming together.

I agree! I hired an interior designer to help me put my house back together, and she was fabulous. Best money I’ve ever spent. My house looks like a home now! 🙂

I love blue, too. That is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
We moved three years ago too. But those wall hanging stuff and pictures are still in boxes.

Mine were, too. But when we had to redo everything, I hired a designer to help with colors and things and she helped me place all my hanging items, too. For the first time since we moved in three years ago, my house looks like a home. 🙂
