Yes, my girlhood dream was to write fiction. And I do. But somewhere in the back of my mind, the dream was also to own a bookstore.
Of course, then I worked in a bookstore during college. Not as glamorous as the idea of it! Still, doesn’t every reader dream of it in some form or fashion? Okay, maybe it’s just me.
No, I haven’t lost my mind and opened a brick-and-mortar bookstore. But I have opened a bookstore on my website! Yes, it only carries my books, and only ebooks at the moment, but still—a dream come true nonetheless.
I’m excited about my shop because I can offer my books to you a bit cheaper than on other sites. And the truth is I make a few cents more on them to help pay for my website, writing memberships, computer programs, etc. I can also do things like coupons and (when I figure it out!) gift cards. That’s why I’m still investigating print book options—both to give you the best deal and to not lose my mind.
This is not a unique thing to me. Many indie authors are choosing this option as one way to sell books. It benefits us all, authors and readers alike.
