On the Cusp of a New Year

Home » Faith » On the Cusp of a New Year

In: Faith, Life, Uncategorized on: December 31, 2012

What will the new year bring?

Things I see coming:

  • The graduation of my youngest child from high school
  • My parents 50th wedding anniversary
  • An empty nest
  • A new book published

Things that seem likely:

  • A bathroom upgrade
  • Business trips
  • More writing
  • Trips to see our college kids

And then there’s the stuff I can’t see coming yet. In truth, I can’t even know that any of the probable or likely things I’ve listed for 2013 will actually happen. But it’s comforting to know God already knows.

“Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil.” James 4:13-16

As we stand on the cusp of a new year, will you join me in resting 2013 in the capable hands of Jesus?

"The Work of His Hands: a novelette”

Bea wants nothing more than to go to college and learn more about the world God created. Her mother even left money in trust for her to do so. She only wishes her father supported her dream. But when Papa gets into financial trouble in the young town of Fort Worth, Texas, Bea must decide what is more important—her education or her father's well-being. Can she trust the God of creation to make something beautiful of her life?”

Along with the story you’ll receive my newsletter updates as well.
